Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. --- Philippians 4: 5-6 |

The First
United Methodist Church of San Marcos
Foundation
What makes this gift different from
other forms of church giving?
Our
foundation is a permanent fund and only its earnings will be spent. Your
gift will live forever. The foundation will support projects above
and beyond normal budgeted items to promote,
carry out, support, encourage, and assist the purposes of First United
Methodist Church of San Marcos such as scholarships, maintenance and
repair, property acquisitions, landscaping, and ministries. A special
mission of the foundation is the perpetual preservation, maintenance,
and improvement of the sanctuary building. Are gifts to the
foundation tax deductible? Yes.
Your gifts to the foundation are deductible for Federal Income Tax
purposes. Bequests, life income gifts and other donations of value are
generally exempt from Federal Estate and Gift taxes. Is my gift too small? Because
all gifts are pooled in the foundation, they have a cumulative effect
making even the smallest gift significant. Every gift contributes to the
overall growth of the permanent fund of the foundation. What kinds of gifts can be made to our
foundation? There
are many kinds of gifts that could benefit our church through the
foundation. A few of them are: Cash Real
estate Personal
property Stocks
and bonds Life
Insurance Planned
gifts Can I designate a special type of
gift? Specially
designated gifts are a great way to show others how much you care about
them and about your congregation. These include: Memorial
gifts to honor a family member, a church member or other person. Tribute
gifts recognizing special occasions such as anniversaries,
achievements, retirements, and promotions. Who administers the fund? The
foundation is administered by a Board of Directors elected by the Charge
Conference of the First United Methodist Church of San Marcos. What is a planned gift? A
planned gift to the church through the foundation is a financial gift
structured to serve the needs of the church as well as the giver, such
as: Gifts
through wills also known as bequests. Charitable
gift annuities, which provide payments or life, tax benefits and
ultimately benefit our church. Life
Insurance Charitable
remainder and charitable lead trusts You
may want to consult your financial advisor for other forms of planned
