Yang 24 From Tia chi is a soft marital art from individuals of all ages and fitness levels. Tai Chi promotes relaxation, flexibility, and concentration. Tai chi practice is excellent for reducing tension and stress. In only 20 minutes a day, gain the health benefits of Tai chi – increased strength and energy, better balance and improved bodily awareness. Excellent for beginning students, those who want an alternative to jogging or aerobic and those with limited time for exercise.

No mats required only comfy clothes.

Are you like many other men who avoid healthcare like a plague? Have you ever wished for the chance to talk to a doctor in a relaxed, non-clinical setting about health issues that most interest or concern you? Then please join us for the presentation and conversation about men’s health issues.

When: Thursday, Feb 18, 7:00pm – 8:00pm

Where: El Buen Pastor UMC, 209 E. Grove St., San Marcos, TX 78666

Who: All adult men. (sons are also invited, but must be accompanied by their dads.)

Our very own Dr. Greg Moore, a San Marcos internist, will be on hand to speak openly and in layman’s language about the health issues that most concern men and to give straightforward answers to young questions.

You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.  GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.  A 13-week GriefShare Seminar and Support Group will begin on Wednesday, Feb 3, 7:00 – 9:00pm.  Room 207 above Todd Hall kitchen

Each session is designed to help us experience and understand the significance of Jesus' suffering and death in a way we have never done before.

 

Whether you are a long-time Christian or are simply curious about the story of Christ's crucifixion, you are invited to join in the retracing the last 24 hours of Jesus' life.

 Adult Ministries

is based on Jesus' command to love one another.  Through confidential, one-to-one caring relationships, people who are hurting can receive support, love and care from Stephen Ministers who are trained in this type of distinctively Christian care-giving.  If you or someone you know  is going through a difficult time and need someone to listen, to care, and to share God's love, call our Referral Coordinator Carolyn Benitez at 396-0595.  All inquiries are strictly confidential.

THE PRAYER ROOM is a wonderful place to meet with the Lord in prayer and meditation. Our prayer request list is kept here in order that you may come and offer up prayers for others.

 

 

 

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY crochets and knits for people in the congregation that are ill, recovering, celebrating life and for widows or widowers as comfort. We welcome anyone that is interested in participating in this Prayer Shawl Ministry of love. Come be a Prayer Shawl Crokni!


THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN (UMW) is an organization open to all women of the Church whose purpose is to expand one another’s understanding and participation in missions both locally and globally.  UMW offers many opportunities of fellowship through circle meetings, educational studies, spiritual growth, and fund raisers throughout the year. 

 

 

THE UNITED METHODIST MEN (UMM) is an organization open to all men of the Church that actively supports programs such as Boy Scouts and foreign missions in Mozambique and Laos .  They also help with the upkeep of the church property. Join UMM for breakfast and a program the first
                                  Wednesday of each month at 6:30am in the church Activity Center .  

OFFICE ANGELS are the extra hands who share their time and talents in partnership with the church staff to help with various office duties.  If you are interested in becoming an Office Angel please call the church office. 

THE BUS MINISTRY is the transportation ministry of the church.  Volunteers handle children’s choir pick-ups on Wednesday, drive for various special events throughout the year, and provide rides for Sunday school and worship services.  If you are in need of transportation, call the church office to schedule a pick-up.  Our mini-bus is handicapped-accessible with a wheelchair lift.

 

 

 

MISSIONS are an important part of First UMC.  It is the desire of the church to be mission-minded, giving help to the “least of these” both locally and internationally.  First UMC has long been committed to Southside Community Center in San Marcos and has very active missions in Mozambique , Mexico , and Laos .  New mission outreaches are now being established in Rwanda . Please contact Diana Wiley (diana@truevineyard.org), our missions’ committee chair, on how you can best become involved with any of our mission programs at FUMC.

 

 

SOCIETY OF ST. STEPHEN is a ministry to the indigent in the community through Southside Community Center .  First UMC supports this vital ministry through communion rail offerings collected on the first Sunday of each month.  These funds are used to provide assistance with rent, utilities, and other necessities.  Applications for funding must be made at Southside.
