     MEALS ON WHEELS

 

 

Every eighth week our church delivers approximately forty-five meals each day of the workweek to shut-ins in our community. These people are so grateful. The meals are prepared in Smithville, trucked to Allenwood Homes in San Marcos where they are assembled. Bea Pacheco is the coordinator at Allenwood Homes. To cover our three routes, we have six people delivering each day. This means we need thirty people to deliver the meals for the week. We have regular drivers and we have a list of substitutes we call on when our regulars are out-of-town or ill. Our problem is recruiting and maintaining a viable list of at least thirty substitutes.
