Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

    --- Philippians 4: 5-6

Dear Church Family,

This Sunday, our sermon series "Life of Christ" continues as we look at the "First Miracle" Jesus performs at a wedding in Cana based on John 2:1-11. Suddenly, Mary lets Jesus know that they are almost out of wine. Fearing that this will be a humiliation to the wedding couple and their families, she looks to him for help. At first he is reluctant. Is this to be his first miracle? Did anyone else ask him about it? Is it really his place to step in?

After all, no one is going to die over this. In the overall scheme of things does this situation qualify as important enough to be "the first miracle of Jesus?"

3 Questions:

1) When have you prayed about a small matter wondering if it merits God's concern?

2) How often does God bless you in the ordinary moments of your day?

3) Is anything beyond the reach of God?

Join us as this Sunday. It is important that we gather together.

Last night the Haiti crises became very personal to us in San Marcos. Rev. Suzanne Field-Rabb's husband, Rev, Clint Rabb was in Haiti with two co-workers, Sam Dixon and Jim Gulley in Port au Prince meeting with the new head of the Methodist Church in Haiti when the earthquake hit. They are missing. I spoke with Suzanne this morning and her voice was brave even as she spoke through tears. Pastor Suzanne is one of our former associate pastors here at FUMCSM and both she and Clint are very dear to us.

How you can help:

    1) Pray in solidarity with Christians all over the world and especially for our Global Mission personnel and for Clint and Suzanne.

    2) Contribute to Health Care Kits. These kits cost about $13 to put together. We will accept contributions for that on Sunday and purchase the items Sunday afternoon. If you can meet at the church at 5:30 in the activity center, we will put those kits together so they can go to the conference office Monday or Tuesday.

    3) Contribute to relief aid via the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) which is already on the group and helping. 100% of your contribution goes to aid. All overhead and administrative cost is paid for out of other United Methodist funds.

Tai chi will begin Wednesdays 5:30-6:30, starting Feb 3rd. This class will fill in while Yoga takes a little break.  Cindy, our Wesley Nurse, will teach the class. No mats are needed only comfortable clothes. Shoes are not required due to some people feel more balanced without them.  Tai chi will meet outside in the courtyard.  On bad weather days we will meet in the Children’s Chapel.
